The Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads is organized for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including the education of its members and the general public about Chinese culture and history.
Over thirty-five years ago, several community leaders envisioned a way for the general public to learn more about the Chinese culture and its heritage. This vision led to the formal organization of the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads, with the idea of establishing a community center where the charitable, religious, cultural, educational, and social goals of the Association could be fulfilled.
In 1990, the Chinese Community Center was erected in Virginia Beach, VA. The new center provided a way for the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads to offer more services to its members and a headquarter facility where educational and cultural activities could be organized. The Chinese Community Association has been and continues to be a major contributor to cultural festivals throughout the Hampton Roads area.
In addition to our many cultural events and services, the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads places a heavy emphasis on fellowship among our members and the community. CCAHR regularly hosts monthly SEVAMP dinners, a dance club, Halloween, Thanksgiving dinner, and quartly family get-togethers.
