CCA Fall Picnic

The CCA’s Annual Picnic was held  on Oct. 9, 2011 at the Chinese Community Center. It was a huge success with over 130 people attending. The food was delicious. The menu included hamburgers, fried chicken, stir fried vegetables and fried rice. Many thanks to May Lee, David Moy, Benny Wong, Bobby & Erica Lee for preparing this meal. The fellowship between friends and family was enjoyed by all.

There were games of ping pong, chess, dominoes & checkers. It was a great time to catch up on family weddings, grandchildren and graduations. Thanks to Alice Tow for giving painless flu shots for those brave enough to get them. The next opportunity for Flu Shots will be at the Thanksgiving Party.

CCA Annual Golf Tournament

Each year, the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads sponsors a charity golf tournament. The event is always well-attended with great prizes and raffles. With the money raised, CCAHR is able to award scholarships to the young leaders of our community as well s support various worthy causes in the community.

This year’s golf tournament will be held on May 10th, 2014 at Sleepy Hole golf course.  Please click on this 2014 Golf Tournament Information Brochure for more information and to register for the tournament.

Over and above the purpose of promoting cultural diversity, CCAHR also acknowledges its role in the community and earmarks a portion of tournament proceeds for donations to life-changing charities each year, including the Leukemia/Lymphoma Association, the Foundation for Kidney Transplant, Hurricane Katrina Relief, Cancer research, Operation Smile, Food Bank, Red Cross, Samaritan House, Union Mission, and Salvation Army.

CCA Yard Sale

The CCA had a yard sale at the Community center one Saturday morning. As they say ” one man’s trash is another man’s treasure “. Our community members could participate for free. Tables were $10 a space to non-members. Many fine purchases were made. The remaining items were picked up by the Salvation army at the end of the day. Join us next time and clean up your garage and closets.

CCA Harborfest

The Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads has been a long time volunteer organization with FestEvents. We have been a staple at the waterfront in downtown Norfolk. Through our efforts, we have been able to raise money for many charitable organizations and causes as well as college scholarships. Come join the next time we provide refreshments to festival attendees.
