Our entertainment was led off by Kevin Liu who played several selections on the Erhu a traditional Chinese string instrument. He is the son of Liu Jen. He was followed by the Lion Dance. They received over $224 in Hong Boa (red envelope) money!
A delightful raffle was moderated by Bobby Lee and Jerry Ng. Over $600 was collected in ticket sales!
The 28th edition of the Lion Dance was performed at the Portsmouth Children’s Museum, China Garden, Golden Palace, Cara Barton Elementary School, Boardwok, Imperial Palace, Grace Foods, Port Arthur, Ling Nam, HoHo Restaurant and the Chinese Community Center. Their efforts netted the CCA $3,808. The 28 year total is now up to $113,346.99! Many thanks to these very generous patrons!
In 28 years there have been only 114 Lion Dancers. Welcome to Tanner Wong and Joyce Chow as the newest members of this select group.
We want to recognize So Ng, Scott Dillingham, John Wong, Ann Wong and Perry Lee for guiding the Lion Dance team safely around Hampton Roads this year. Our hungry Lions were fed by China Garden Portsmouth, Ling Nam, Wayne Leung , May Lee & David Moy. We thank them for their kindness and concern.
Our Lion Dancers were led by seniors Oscar Wong and Melissa Wong. They were both awarded a Lion Dance Scholarship of $100!
This wonderful tradition will be carried on by Emily Chen, Karl Li , Kevin Dillingham, Howard & Patrick Din, Ricky Maldonado, Steven, Allison, Bryant , Eric, Kara, Nicky, Katelyn, and Michael Wong. Lion Dance Patches went to Allen Wong & Kelly Dillingham for 5 years of participation.
