After taking the Summer off. Thanks to Tony & Lisa Ng and Park & Fan Wong for preparing the Sept. Luncheon and to Wayne Leung for leading the team preparing the Oct. Luncheon! Kudos to our volunteers who always provide a delicious senior citizen lunch. A special hand to John Wong, Alan Cheung, Ann Wong and Patsy Wong for professional dish washing and food service. The fellowship that results from these gatherings is priceless.

On October 7, 2004 the storage shed near the back of the Chinese Community Center was destroyed by a fire. Officers of the CCA were notified by the Fire Department at 6 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown.
The wooden shed was completely destroyed, as well as it’s contents. All of the round banquet tables, and the majority of the long tables were in the shed. A freezer, ceiling tiles and a number of chairs were also consumed during the blaze.
The Community Center itself suffered minimal damage. The back door needed to be replaced. Thanks to Scott Dillingham and Sonny Barbo for securing the Center and replacing the door.
Unfortunately, we lost all three Lion Heads, the cymbals, the gong and the Drum. We are trying to order a new Lion & Drum for Chinese New Year. The oldest Lion Head had been used by our Lion Dancers for over 20 years!
Hopefully our insurance coverage will minimize our financial exposure as we repair the damage to the building.
The CCA Executive Committee has committed to spending the money needed to repaint and re-calk the building exterior. A tree service has also been asked to clear and level the adjacent lot. The order for new round tables and folding chairs has been placed. Hopefully all repairs and replacements will be completed before the Thanksgiving Celebration.

The 2nd Annual CCA golf tournament was held at Honey Bee Golf Course on June 12, 04. We were able to raise $9,375. After expenses we netted $5,339. The American Cancer Association & Ms. Xu Foundation will each receive a $500 gift. Ms. Xu is a student with renal disease at O.D.U. The bulk of the funds will help support CCA activities.
